Under the emergency campaign launched by the SVF to raise community awareness of swine flu, SVF organized a public awareness meeting in cooperation with Women's Program Center - Khan Younis entitled "swine flu ... concept and ways of prevention" on Sunday 27/12/2009 participated by a number of mothers and concerns, hosted by both health worker Mrs. Heba Abdel Hadi and the health worker Mrs. Tahani Dahlan who explained at the beginning of the meeting that the swine flu is a disease arising from infection called H1N1, indicating the difference between ordinary flu and swine flu, and referred the modes of transmission the virus are through the transmission of the virus from infected humans to sound one through the respiratory sound by breathing droplets of the virus to reach the eye through contact. In this place, Mrs. Dahlan indicated that the arrival of the virus to the nose and eyes can occur through a variety of ways such as hand-shaking, kissing, and the use of the patient's tools and touching contaminated surfaces. On her part, Mrs. Dahalan advised, for the prevention of transmission of the disease, the following: wash your hands often with soap and water or use alcohol disinfectant for hands, make sure to wash hands after sneezing, coughing and avoid touching the nose, mouth and eyes, and putting a napkin on the mouth or nose when you cough or sneeze, and disposal of napkin.
Mrs. Dahlan confirmed that it might be possible to know whether we are infected with the disease through some or all of the following symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, clogged nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue, diarrhea or vomiting,
In this context, Mrs. Abdul-Hadi streesed, at the onset of the disease, on the need to stay at home and away from other people and ensure to cover the nose and mouth, and when the infected persons were not within the age groups exposed to severe pain, they should take analgesics and fever reducers and drinking warm fluids frequently. On the most vulnerable to infect with disease, Mrs. Abdul Hadi confirmed that some people are at greater complications of influenza infection and they should consult a doctor regarding the need to check if they develop symptoms of influenza this season, and these are: children under 5 years of age, and persons who have attained the age of 65 years or older, pregnant women, and persons suffering from: cancer, blood disorders and chronic lung disease, diabetes, heart disease and kidney, neurological, neuromuscular disorders and weakened immune system.
In conclusion of the meeting, Mrs. Abdul Hadi stressed the need to obtain medical attention immediately if we have any of the following warning emergency signs: For adults; difficulty in breathing, pain and sudden dizziness, severe or continuous vomiting, improvement of symptoms of influenza-like symptoms, but returns again accompanied by a fever or more cough, and for children: rapid breathing and skin color to blue and not drinking enough fluids and lack of interaction with others, and improvement of symptoms of influenza-like symptoms, but returns again accompanied by a fever or cough and fever, accompanied by skin eruption.
