Within the serials of radio programs produced by the SVF every Wednesday of each weak at eleven AM on Alwan Radio 94.5 FM, this episode was on December 30, 2009 funded by TIRI to discuss how to enhance the process of public monitoring, accountability and transparency of municipality services. The Guests were both the Director of the Arab Center for Agricultural Development D. Mohsen Abu Ramadan, and the community Monitoring Mr. Haitham Alzeriei. During the episode, Mr. Abu Ramadan referred that the parties in the process of change based on young people.
On his part, Mr. Abu Ramdan indicated the role of the first Legislative Council which should have been played a social monitoring, but it failed as a result of corruption. He assisted that the goal of the monitoring is to reject and combat corruption and to refute the use of power and influence for personal purposes, stressing the necessity of activating the role of youth in the process of monitoring and the time is suitable to generalize the concepts of monitoring and implement them.
Dr. Abu Ramdan stressed in his speech that the effective institutions which serve the citizen with all the transparency and integrity and the features of these institutions are subject to accountability tools and internal monitoring, for example, that the municipalities must have clear strategies and including internal monitoring, and added to get that there is a need to promote and disseminate the concepts of integrity, accountability and transparency in the community in all ways and means besides building young leaders capacitates through training them on how to form lobby groups to enhance talking skills as applied by the SVF. About the most important challenges they faced in the past, Mr. Alzerie said, it is difficult to accept some officials to the idea of the presence of members from abroad to monitor the progress of work, this idea was rejected by some municipalities which need to work to increase awareness among the citizens of the importance of monitoring and accountability.
In the conclusion of the episode, Alzeriei stressed the need for a unitary development plan included institutions and not sectarian or individually, and make every effort to create a society with sound and valid services, and stressed that if there is the ability to sacrifice for the nation, it can be easy to make an effort for the development and success of the community.
