SVF held a public meeting to discuss children's involuntary urination

In cooperation with " The Palestinian House Rehabilitation Association - Breij, middle area, SVF held a public awareness meeting entitled  " children's involuntary urination " on Tuesday Jan 5, 2010 participated by the social activist, Mr. Ismail Attallah. In the beginning, Mr. Attallah defined the concept of involuntary urination as the automatic flow of urine at night and daylight. Furthermore, it is the inability to control urinary system of children, especially children who are over the age of the third. On his part, Mr. Attallah showed numeric total of children's bed-wetting proportion to reach up to 30% at age 4 years, 10% at the age of 6 years, 3% at the age of 12 years and 1% in the age of 18 years and older. Atallah explained that the causes of bedwetting are divided into organic and psychological reasons, and pointed out that organic causes including urinary system infections, adenoids, diabetes or lake of limestone.

On the other hand, the psychological reasons, which also cause the problem of involuntary urination, involved jealousy, especially when there is a new baby, beaten by their parents, lack of love and emotional deprivation, separating child from the mother and also the death of a family member. During the meeting, Atallah indicated number of important points to overcome the problem of involuntary urination including preparing calm atmosphere in the home and remove all the atmosphere of tension, the need to consult a doctor, improve the child self-confidence  and help the child to sleep enough hours as well as the use of all methods of encouragement, especially verbal.
