SVF prepared and broadcasted a live radio prograam on: the Palestinian Media and the Youth on Jan 6, 2010 on Alwan Radio 94.5 FMattended by the political analyst, Mr. Talal Okal and Mr. Khaled Abu Zaher, director and editor of Sports Ramattan Agency.
Mr. Okal indiacted the role of the media toward young people that they bear a large part of the responsibility during the harsh and bitter conditions, but he stressed that the media is a hangman and a victim at the same time so that it conveys the facts and events of society and contribute at making the public opinion and circulate the news of division. In spit that, youth are not among its priorities and concerns, and wondered from the party control of media and the lake of independent media. In this regard, he confirmed on the need for success of national reconciliation and the rebuilding of media unit and formalizing media concern youth and women as well. In the same context, Mr. Abu Zaher stressed on the need to build a non-partisan independent media and the formation of a higher council for media or a committee of experts to be responsible for all media tools under specific policies. Mr. Abu Zaher criticized the media by saying that if we had an assessment of the media before and after the division, we will find that it was directed to the outside only as well as the lake of journalists for the efficient skills to work in the media.
In conclusion, Mr. Abu Zaher called to stop the deterioration, or at least seek to redress the situation and invited all the media organizations not to exploit young people for their own and strive to develop their professional skills. for his part Mr. Okal invited at the conclusion of his speech NGO's and CBO's that work, under the banner of youth, to serve the interests of young people and not for personal interest and to work hard for the sake of community development.
