SVF held a public awareness meeting in cooperation with the Palestinian development Association of rural farmers - Bureij entitled "Role of Youth in voluntary Work" on Wednesday February 10, 2010 participated by the community activist and activities coordinator of the SVF Mr. Jaber Abu Zaher, and Mr. Nedal Muzaini, the head of the SVF's Youth Parliament. On his part, Mr. Abu Zaher referred that volunteer movement in social work is a force from the community motivates it toward reliance on the efforts of its members, groups and available resources to meet the needs of its citizens. Mr. Abu Zaher, added that volunteerism reflects the national will, driven by citizens in the community to advance to face the difficulties that stand in the face of society, as pointed out by Mr. Abu Zaher, voluntary process plays an important role as the quantity and quality in countries development through various programs and areas, including humanitarian assistances, technical cooperation, promotion of human rights, and peace. In the same context, Mr. Nedal Muzaini emphasized that volunteerism is a basis for many of the activities of NGOs, in addition to many projects in the literacy, immunization, environmental protection, which depends directly on the voluntary efforts. Furthermore, he indicated that volunteerism is the most important means used to strengthen the role of youth in social life contributing to the advancement of the status of the community in all aspects of life and pointed out that the importance of volunteer work are increasing day by day as the complexity of the conditions of life and increasing social needs, and the best possible slide to be successful voluntary work and give it aggressively, are young adults, referring to the reluctance of youth from engaging in voluntary work of all kinds, and here Mr. Muzaini stressed that youth, especially in societies such as the young Palestinian people can contribute significantly to the voluntary work in the institutions and civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations which are clearly reflected in the exploitation of capacities and available resources, youth development and orient them the right direction, especially if combined with education, since education is a fundamental goal of development. |
