SVF invited Mr. Taleb In'em, from Taghred Association for Culture and Development, and Mr. Marcel Bedawy from Ghassan Kanafani Association to talk in a live radio program broadcasted by Alwan Radio on ‘Youth Organizations and their Relationship to Serve Youth Sector' on May 5, 2010. Mr. Marcel Bedawy referred the characteristic of the civil institutions in general and youth organizations in particular which not trying to make a profit, but they aim to orient and educate the society. Although that, he stressed that many of these youth organizations lose their credibility in relevance to profitability, to be their main concern is to collect as many as possible of funds.
On other hand, Mr. Bedawy addressed the most important impediments and difficulties face youth organizations included the difficulty in obtaining the necessary and adequate funding for the development of youth capacities, in addition to lack of youth awareness of youth institutions actions nature. On his part, Mr. Bedawy discussed youth organizations role at fulfilling youth needs. He stressed their shortage at achieving youth concerns and issues as required. In contrary, he blamed youth for their lacking to develop their capacities and skills so they lose a chance to get an appropriate work.
On the relationship among institutions, Mr. In'em emphasized that there is no coordination as required among those institutions to serve the youth sector. In this context, he indicated that some institutions are directed to implement some agendas related with funders agenda and neglect their own one. Furthermore, he explained that some of those institutions changed their name just to fit the new intended requirements.
In conclusion, both the guests confirmed the importance role of youth institutions at serving and achieving youth issues and concerns. They added, to achieve that, there is a need to work in an integrated framework and prior strategic plans on the implementation of youth organizations in the future. Furthermore, the guests assisted the necessity to coordinate between institutions and unify efforts towards serving youth sector . On their turn, both the guests called all young people to duplicate efforts to develop their skills to promote their status and position in the community.
