SVF organized a youth meeting in cooperation with Tawasol Forum at Nuseirat on "Graduates Unemployment and Youth Voluntary Work" on June 23, 2010, attended by 17 participants of young leaders and participated by the social activists Mrs. Salwa Awawdeh. Mrs. Awawdeh assisted that unemployment disseminated largely in the Gaza Strip due to the hard circumstances the Palestinians face in their life. In this regard, the participants referred the risks of such phenomenon upon the graduates including despair, frustration, increasing of free times which lead for deviation.
Accordingly, the participants assisted the importance of volunteering as a way to treat the free time problem as well as improving skills and empowering capacities.
On her part, Mrs. Awawdeh also stressed that voluntary work contributes largely at exploiting youth energies and capabilities towards full and productive contribution in the society. Furthermore, she confirmed also that it contributes to promote the role of civil society institutions for the development of the community. In conclusion, the attendance assisted on the need to promote awareness and education of the importance of volunteerism among individuals, old and young to build a developmental community based on unity and coherence.
